Susan L Abend, M.D., F.A.C.P.
Dr. Abend is an internist and endocrinologist who has had more than 15 years of experience in healthcare quality and information management, and in the care of individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities (D/ID). Based on her experiences she has spearheaded the development of the Right Care Now Project. She has served in multiple administrative roles responsible for the measurement and improvement of healthcare quality: she was the Medical Director of Medistaff, Inc.and Vice President of Quality and Medical Affairs for Johnson Memorial Health System. Most recently, she was the Executive Director of the Healthcare Quality Management Group, in Framingham, MA. While Assistant Professor of Medicine and Psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Dr. Abend developed the medical services for the UMass Neurodevelopmental Unit, the UMass Neurodevelopmental Ambulatory Team, and has studied and written about health issues in the D/ID community. Dr. Abend is a graduate of the six-year BS/MD program at Union College and Albany Medical College.
Bill Ames, L.I.C.S.W.
Mr. Ames is the Vice President for Disability Services at Community Resources for Justice, Inc. CRJ provides a range of comprehensive residential services to support people with disabilities in MA and NH. Prior to joining CRJ he served as Senior Vice President of Ascentria Care Alliance (formerly Lutheran Social Services), where he worked to enhance case management, employment and care of over 1600 individuals annually. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Michael Lisnow Respite Center in Hopkinton, MA. Mr. Ames received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and earned a Masters of Social Work degree from Boston University.
Roslyn Rubin, Ed. D
Dr. Rubin is the emeritus Chief Executive Officer of Opportunities for Inclusion, Inc. (formerly GWArc), a non-profit organization that serves persons with D/ID and their families. Prior to this, Dr. Rubin was a Clinical Director of mental health community housing at Advocates, Inc. and for over 15 years was a therapist in community mental health for Wayside Youth & Family Services. Her doctorate is in educational psychology and she was a special needs teacher prior to graduate school. She lives in metrowest Boston with husband Donald and has a son who is a biologist.
Pamela Stetkiewicz, Ph. D.
Dr. Stetkiewicz is the Chief Operating Officer of Arbor Biotechnologies. Prior to this position, Dr. Stetkiewicz served as Senior Vice President, Global Program Leader at Flagship Pioneering Medicines. In addition, Dr. Stetkiewicz served as Vice President, Program and Alliance Management at Editas Medicine, where she was responsible for building the development organization, forming collaborations, and notably leading the IND filing for the first in vivo CRISPR therapeutic EDIT-101. Previously, Dr. Stetkiewicz held leadership and senior management roles over 13 years at the Novartis Institutes of BioMedical Research (NIBR) across science, alliance, project and portfolio management, including her last role as Executive Director, Strategic Alliances. Dr. Stetkiewicz received her Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. from the University of Rhode Island.
